Information on this page relates to the Scottish Council on Deafness and is not necessarily the position taken by deafscotland.
At SCoD we have always had a series of Position Statements, outlining our views on how best to achieve full and fair access for deaf people in every aspect of life. Thanks to funding from Awards for All, the Soutar Charitable Trust, Martin Connell Charitable Trust and the Cruden Foundation, we have been able to rewrite and update these Position Statements.
Position Statements explain our stance on:
Accessible Public Transport Infrastructure
Accessible Public Transport Systems
Access to Information
Deaf People with Complex Needs
Informed Consent for Adults
Linguistic Access and Communication
Newborn Hearing Screening
Procurement and the Tendering Process in Scotland
Social Work Services
A series of six Information Sheets also accompanies and supports the statements and these cover:
Deaf Awareness Training
Definitions of Deafness
The Equality Act 2010
